Let me say up front, had Dr Naiman's The P:E Diet been in agreement with his YouTube lectures "Diet" and "Burn Fat, Not Sugar w/ Ted Naiman", I would have given this book five stars. Here is my advice, buy the book, it has great content and graphics that do an excellent job of communicating his points, and watch his YouTube lectures "Diet" and "Burn Fat, Not Sugar w/ Ted Naiman", giving his lectures priority in being more correct, and you will have one of the best understanding for Diet and Health available.Shame on Dr Naiman trying to force a one formula fits all approach, when obviously from his lectures, he knows better. For example, he talks up Protein as if eating nothing but Shrimp all day, every day will be the best thing you can do. Obviously, from his lectures, I know that is not what he means, but you wouldn't know that from his book. Another example, he keeps hitting that butter/fats only can go to body fat, letting you believe that fats are bad. Again, watching his YouTube lectures, you know that is not what he believes.Using the videos as the better source of accurate content, then read his book The P:E Diet for greater understanding of how nutrients enter our body, and overall nutritional overview on Diet and Health. Hopefully, Dr Naiman will update his fine book to correct these errors, for if he would do so, Dr Naiman would have the Gold Standard for Diet and Health and would have one person that would be telling everyone to buy his book.
The book, in a nutshell: up the ratio of dietary protein (P) to dietary energy (E), avoid high-fat+carb junk and perform full-body high-intensity training (HIT) to at least concentric failure on a daily basis--in addition to high-impact "ballistic" movements. In short--good (but hardly groundbreaking) dietary advice; awful training advice. The book is poorly-organized, overly-long/redundant for the essential content, includes the obligatory recipes and exercise demonstrations, and is not easily readable on a smartphone. Not recommended.
